Health law firms, in-house, and general counsel many times need assistance from healthcare risk management professionals who understand the law. Documentation development, on-site risk management evaluations, policy analysis, and educational programs are some of the areas in which law firms and lawyers want to enlist the help of a qualified risk management professional.

The Rozovsky Group, Inc/RMS is not a replacement for legal counsel or legal services. The Rozovsky Group, Inc./RMS complements the work of legal counsel.

Here are some examples:

A hospital needs a practical consent policy and procedure - but the general counsel wants a risk management professional with a legal background to help develop it.

A long term care facility wants a policy and procedure on the use of restraints - and outside counsel wants input from a clinical risk management professional.

A pediatric group needs a "train-the-trainer" program for new employees on "mandatory reporting" - and retained counsel wants a risk management professional to develop the program for the client.

A healthcare system wants to develop a board education program on patient safety, risk management and governance - and in-house counsel wants a specialist in risk management and patient safety to develop the program.

The board and medical staff of a hospital agree that specific credentialing requirements need to be in place for principal investigators engaged in human research - but in-house counsel wants risk management input on such specialized credentialing criteria.

The solution in each case: contact The Rozovsky Group, Inc../RMS. We have the practical know-how and perspective to meet these challenging assignments. We understand how to work effectively with law firms, in-house and general counsel to design practical solutions.

Many times the local risk management professional does not have the time to do the research or to conduct an in-depth analysis. Sometimes the issue goes beyond his or her expertise or the risk management professional wants an outside opinion to validate current or proposed policies, procedures, or practice routines. In other situations, the facility needs a dynamic education program to drive home an important concept in patient safety, effective communication, or risk management.

Here are some examples:

  • A hospital needs a practical consent policy and procedure - but the risk manager cannot find the time to complete it.
  • A long term care facility requires an elopement protocol - but the Director of Clinical Services cannot find a suitable template for her organization.
  • A family practice group needs a comprehensive risk management assessment - and the Practice Manager wants an outside resource to conduct the evaluation.
  • An assisted living group wants a risk management review of its contract with residents - and the executive director wants an outside resource to do it.
  • An IRB needs a risk management evaluation of sponsor agreements - and the Corporate Research Compliance Officer wants a risk management professional with expertise in clinical trials management to do the assessment.
  • A healthcare system wants to launch a fresh approach to disclosure of unanticipated outcomes - but it wants a credible, recognized authority to present the message.
  • An integrated delivery organization wants to educate the board about governance - and it wants a dynamic speaker to deliver the presentation.

The solution in each case: contact The Rozovsky Group, Inc../RMS. We have the practical know-how and perspective to meet these challenging assignments. Being on the forefront of change in healthcare risk management we understand the complexities facing the field and design practical solutions.

We do not take a cookie cutter approach to risk management and patient safety consulting services . Each engagement is tailored to meet client needs.

Consulting engagements are custom-designed for clients. Reports can be customized to be detailed or written in a "issue oriented" template that includes Observations, Opportunities for Improvement, and Strategies for Improvement.

Our consulting experience and services include:

  • Risk management on-site assessments.
  • Assistance with failure mode effect analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Review and refinement of existing risk management policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Retainer programs to serve as a risk management and patient safety resource for healthcare organizations and physician practices.
  • Design and development of risk management and patient safety tools.

Consulting engagements begins with a telephone or in-person discussion of the scope of the project. The discussion results in a consulting proposal that maps out what will be done during the engagement, the timeframe, and the deliverables of the project.

In some instances, consulting engagements will include assistance with implementation of Strategies for Improvement and educational services.

Development of risk management and patient safety white papers, research on specific risk management and patient safety issues and customized retainer programs round out our consulting service program. We utilize recognized, experienced, consultants in the field to provide the consulting services for each engagement. Consulting reports focus on opportunities for improvement and practical strategies for improvement.
